I know this is no way to say hello after such a long absence from the blog, but I felt like sharing a small peek of our new little house up here in the mountains, since today the fire and the light feel so wonderfully cozy.
Noah and I got to spend a lot of time together this summer, which felt like an incredible gift as he grows older. Bill and I also spent a lot of time working on our new place. After all those hours of painting, layering, and moving things around (including kitchen cabinetry - more on that soon), it is starting to really feel like home. Our home.
For all of you who wrote to check in - thank you. Truly, this has been an amazing journey and a real test of (particularly my) patience. But now that it's all said and done, our lives are just as we'd envisioned they would be - and we couldn't be happier. As always, I hope this finds you all well. Sending much peace your way, my friends.

! it looks wonderful. you did an amazing job. and so nice to hear from you.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Liane..! I know, right? It's been some time.
ReplyDeleteAnd for those who are reading this, you should check out Liane's wonderful etsy store, enhabiten - that's where the little cross pillow you can see on the couch came from. :)

Maria,
ReplyDeleteSo funny that today is the day you started writing again. I just stopped by this space earlier this morning for some inspiration, and now here you are. I am glad to hear that you and your family are doing well, settling in, and getting to spend lots of time together. My husband and I are in the process of buying our first house, so I am definitely going to be perusing your archives for ideas on how to make it beautiful. Stay well!
Amazing! Where did you get the woodburning stove? What brand/model is it? Thanks!

ReplyDeletejen, that is actually a fireplace insert and it's made by Avalon. It has an electric blower, too, which really helps circulate the warm air.
Carola..! Si, de a poco ire contandoles sobre la mudanza y mostrandoles fotos de todo el trabajo que hemos estado haciendo en nuestra casita. Y gracias - siempre sos tan dulce conmigo... Te lo agradezco mucho, mucho. Te mando un besote enorme.

ReplyDeleteWhat a really lovely and cozy space you have! My father lives about an hour from Asheville (in Hayesville). It must be such a beautiful time of year there now. Hope you're feeling better! Julie
ReplyDeleteYour photos look very peaceful! I hope you feel better soon. I am thinking of moving to Ashville in the next few years and really look forward to hearing more about the area and how you settle in! I am hoping the winters are a bit milder than here in New England.
ReplyDeleteLorraine

Maria, your home looks like a cozy place to relax.
ReplyDeleteThe living room is my favorite, especially the ottoman.
It looks amazing! I hope you post more pictures/projects soon! I love the way the dining room light casts shadows all over....

I really like your wall paint color. Do you remember the name/make of the paint that you used?
ReplyDeleteHi all - thanks so much for your thoughtful comments. I've been sick, sick, sick, but hopefully on the mend. I will visit you all and start posting again more often soon - I do have a lot to share with you about our new home. :)
ReplyDeleteAnonymous - the color in the living room ended up being a custom mix. It is a tad lighter than Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore - but very close. Hope that helps!
xoxo,
-maria
so sorry to hear you were under the weather - hopefully it didn't last too long. your new house looks wonderful. i like the way the light fitting in the dining room covers the room in pattern. and i'm quite intrigued by the lindisfarne sign. we are looking at a school of the same name for our boys. an odd coincidence indeed. i do hope all is well in your part of the land, and that you are enjoying life. best, annie x
ReplyDeleteAnnie..! Thank you for your kind words. The Lindisfarne Av sign came from my friends' store Odfellows (oddfellowsasheville.com). They import things from England...but that's about all I know about the sign unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteI hope all is well with you and your boys.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful home you've got! I stumbled upon your blog and have loved reading every bit of it so far. My husband and I visited some family (his side) in Asheville over Thanksgiving. And I fell in love with that city...so much so that we're definitely considering a move there some time in 2012.

I am very impressed with the design of your home, and knowing that it's all you who conceptualized and actually worked on it made me more amazed. I love the vintage theme, especially the fireplace. I hope I can also make a masterpiece like this one. Maybe in the future, when I can finally afford moving into a bigger place.
ReplyDeleteVery impressive! The clean, warm, uncluttered designs makes the home look so welcoming! So nice to live in a place like that.

ReplyDeleteI have been surfing online more than 3 hours these days, yet I by no means found any attention-grabbing article like yours. It is beautiful value enough for me. In my opinion, if all web owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will probably be a lot more useful than ever before.
