Casa Medec

There is something about the use of different textures and honest materials (stone, wood, natural fibers) that tends to inevitably attract me to certain homes... This one plays with all of these elements, achieving, I think, a perfectly subtle balance between rustic and simple...

I hope everyone (in the States) has a wonderful Thanksgiving break if I don't stop by around here before then...

  1. I adore that little reading corner. And the bookshelves in the kitchen. I vote for bookshelves in every room!

  6. Mmmm... that is such a pleasant home. Restful and artfully thought out.

You know, I really love the white walls (I think they are California One Kote - like Velvet & Linen's walls) combined with that soothing bluey-gray trim and doors. White walls with painted trim and doors - done well - can be such an architectural element. This home already had the architectural elements in spades, though. Those beams are beautiful.

Thanks for the images, Maria! And Happy Thanksgiving to you and your's, too! :)

    XO,
    Jacci

  7. That kitchen looks like the kind of room I could never tire of sitting in. I love the mixture of materials and texture in that room in particular. I still regret not exposing the brick in my kitchen when I renovated it. Even painted, the texture is so nice. Beautiful home my dear. I hope you and your family enjoy a happy thanksgiving if you celebrate it. If not, a happy week then.

  12. I will never tire of looking at the photos of this stunning house! So nice to check in here today and be greeted with these beautiful calm images. So sorry I did not get a chance to reply to your comment on my blog - bathroom renovation has been overshadowing everything else for the last month, but the end is in site! I got loads of inspiration from your gorgeous bathroom. Cheers, Sam

  13. This time you beat me to it! Yet another home which both of us have fallen for. I had a post on this one waitiing in the wings. :0)

Everything about this place is perfection. What an amazing retreat. I could completely lose myself here. I too am crazy for all the natural, rustic elements...the rough hewn beams, stonework, time-worn floors and all that perfectly wrinkled linen.

Where do you think they hide the key??? ;0)

  20. Ah yes, you'd go for this lovely one, Maria - the serenity and clean lines, yet with a softness and a sense of home. The tiled floors give the place such substance and character. I think a creative seamstress would live here.
