I know, I know... They're over. The holidays, that is. But maybe there is a holiday going on somewhere in the world (there must be), and we can bask in the good feelings a little bit longer....
We're still listening to Christmas music around here (driving Bill somewhat batty in the process, I'll admit), and just feeling the lazy comfort that came from having unstructured time off... In that spirit, I'll leave you with a few pictures that capture, in a small way, what life was like around here in December...
The good news is - we can revisit all of this any time we want... We don't need a holiday to have twinkling lights, deliciously idle family time, or ridiculously shaped pancakes (for dinner or otherwise)... don't you think? Happy January, dear friends!

(**editor's note: Uh. Yeah. Apparently these aren't moose pancakes, but reindeer ones. Heh. My apologies to the moose. And the reindeer. Of course it makes sense - I mean, moose don't pull Santa's sleigh in Buenos Aires either. I just wish Bill had pointed all this out before folks started leaving comments. Siiiiiiigh...!)

This post makes me happy. I always leave my holiday decorations up so much later than others, except for this year...because my cat took them down for me.
ReplyDeleteI love this post and it makes me want to make my boys little again and kiss their little heads and make french toast. Hhhmm
ReplyDeletei thought those looked like rebekah's stockings! they are lovely. looks like you had such a nice holiday. my kids would love the moose pancakes :)
ReplyDeletegreat job with the homemade stockings! did you use moose cookie cutters to make those pancakes? or just luck shaping the batter?
ReplyDeleteLooks so lovely. The moose pancakes are calling my name! (Have I mentioned how happy I am to have you back, Maria?!)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely warm post Maria! Such beautiful pictures. I love Noah's Christmas cheer, just gorgeous. I love your last sentiment, it is something I like to take with me into every new day - enjoying & sharing those 'true' luxuries in life with our loved ones (holidays or no holidays). You do realise that if my girls see this, I am going to have to start making novelty pancakes :) Thank you for sharing your holidays here. Happiest of days to you - Tina x
ReplyDeleteJulia - the handmade stockings were made by Rebekah (see the link above)... And as for the pancakes - we used molds a friend of ours gave Noah as a gift (he's a big pancake fan). :)

Noah knows what's up. Those pancakes are fantastic! I want some for dinner.
ReplyDeleteLove it. We were "back to school" yesterday, and I was missing the slowness of Christmas break before lunchtime. So, this afternoon I thought, "Bah! Why can't we have the slowness of Christmas break today, too?" And we ditched our last scheduled 30 minutes and painted with watercolors instead. Now, of course, I can't do that **all** the time, but it was fun to paint :)
ReplyDeleteLove your stockings. Love your sweet boy. Love the moosies. Sometimes I think cold, inside days are the best.

Moose pancakes, so cute and delicious.
ReplyDeleteLove the folksy Santa. And your new banner.
How fun to see a little of your holidays. When I was a kid I loved pancakes for dinner. Ok, actually I had breakfast for dinner last night. Some things never change. Love the stockings - that Rebekah is soooo talented! Happy January to you too.
ReplyDeleteI feel so nostalgic now for the lazy freedom of Christmas and having pancakes in our pyjamas. If I were you I'd hide under the stairs with my computer to held onto the peaceful humanity of it all. Your banner is lovely, forever five past ten.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder. My ornaments are off the tree but not yet into the right boxes. Maybe I'm keeping them around a little bit out of the same feelings you discuss.

Hee, hee..! Dear Barb, you finally called the poor "moose" pancake by its intended name. Bill informed me of my mistake, but it was too late to change it by that point - what with everyone commenting on the moose and all... At any rate, I am very glad you guys approved of the pancake, regardless of its proper identification..! But it will forever be a friendly joke around here at our house. Heh.

It great to have you back in blogland, Maria! :-)
