If you have three minutes and thirteen seconds, take a listen to what's been inspiring me lately... It's a wonderful melody and I find the words to be very touching...
If you have another minute, read this for a tiny little background on The Avett Brothers.
There is something about these guys that reminds me a little bit of my beautiful husband and his brother - and the many years I've spent listening to them play guitar together... What a gift they share - and what a gift it is for me and his family (including their sister) to listen in once in a while...
If you have yet another minute, check out what my guy and his brother have been up to lately here.

That photo is gorgeous! The sepia tones make it look aged and like it's from another time :)
ReplyDeleteThank you... It's actually a black and white picture I took of my husband and his brother about 6 years ago (with the 'old-fashioned' film cameras). :) Anyway, once it was scanned into the computer, I played with the color variations in Photoshop to warm it up a bit...
ReplyDeleteAnyway. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a kind note..!

Love the Avett Brothers. They came to the Vineyard 2 summers ago and I saw them play in a club. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of this. How cool that your husband and his brother play guitar together! Very cute picture ;) Have a happy happy Halloween!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful song. My fiance plays the guitar as well so I know just what you mean. Nothing compares, does it?

I like so much about this post - brothers playing guitar together, your b&w photograph, the beautiful song, the simplicity of the video, and the sweet daisy on the guitar (visible in the video for just a moment). Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Denise... I too love the simplicity of two brothers playing acoustic guitar together... I love the subtle harmonies, and I think the video captured the feeling of the song perfectly - the way it was shot, its play with focus, and the editing choices made.... It's very sweet - much like the song and the sentiment behind it.

Sweet Jesus, what a strange and wonderful music video that is. I so love the Avett Bros! I think I burned a hole in the first CD I got of theirs a few Christmases ago.
ReplyDeleteAnd I too thought of your husband and his brother. And THEN I saw the photo you posted of them.
Such a sweet few moments here with your blog post. Thank you!
Gorgeous photo of your husband and brother. My husband and his brother also play together and it's always a special thing. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving me your sweet compliments! AND my procedure went well, thank you for your healing wishes!
ReplyDeleteAh....but I do love this music. I was a guitar-playing, song-writing, singin' and recording gal for awhile. Then I had 6 kids. :o)
ReplyDeleteMy oldest son (has a minor in classical guitar!)has his own band and also plays in this band:

They have a very similar style to the Avett Bros. He plays bass and his wife sings backup.
I'm pretty proud of him. He dreams of being famous. :o)
